Kete dance has always been a court dance for chiefs and members of the Royal Household and the favorite of the Asantehene. The dance came into prominence during the reign of Osei Tutu I (The first King of Asante Kingdom in Ghana). It is used to be the exclusive preserve of the “Asantehene (King of Asante) and it was played for him and his wives. Later, he allowed some of his paramount chiefs to have Kete ensemble in their court. This time the Kete dance was made to welcome the president and his board of members. Among the groups in Cape coast(Ghana) Unity Drum had been the most instrumental group performing at so many ceremonies and occasions. Mben essoun which is a local language name in fantse in Ghana, also meaning seven horns. It is A Traditional AIROPHONE instrument played in Ghana which involve only seven or less people to play. It mostly played at Big ceremonies that involves the attendance of the chief, president or any highly authorized person. It is also performed during the funeral of any of this people mentioned above.
