STOUGHTON HORIZON CHILDREN’S HOME CO- (UNITY DRUM THEATER)
Horizon Children’s Home is an orphanage in Jukwa at Denkyira Kingdom in Ghana. It was started in 2007 by a woman named Agnes Ampong. ….

The story about Agnes
When Agnes was 12 years both her parents died from sickness. Because of her parents death she couldn’t afford paying the school fees and she was kicked out of school. Her uncle who at that time took care of her, paid for her school fees but after two years he died and then Agnes moved home to her brother and sister. They didn’t have much, but still they tried to support her but they didn’t have money to pay for her school fees. Agnes got pregnant when she was about 17 years. She gave birth and even though she didn’t had the money for it she still kept the child. It was dream for Agnes that she really wanted to continue and finish school so a friend of her from Europe doing voluntary service for couple of month helped her paying the school fees so she could finish Junior High School. But unfortunately her friend had to go back home and he handed Agnes to another friend who helped her paying the fees so she could finish Senior High School. The other friend went home too. Before he went he told Agnes that in life it is very important to help them who have less than one self and she had to remember always to do her best to think of others and do the right things by helping other.
She then started to work at Kakum National Park and she saved her money until she had enough to start the Orphanage Stoughton Horizon Children’s Home. They were kids at the beginning which it was hard for Agnes to satisfy all the kids but still she managed by working very hard so she could collect money for the kids and she took care of everyone of the children. In 2008 Agnes meet with the drumming and dancing group called Unity Drum Theater, started collaborate with Emanuel Charles Richardson who also had the same vision and goal on children and together they started an organization they hoped could support the children. Since then Unity Drum Theater had helped Stoughton Horizon Children’s Home with their finances and all needs they can offer to support the betterment of the kids and the school.
